It seems the EGR valve on the 1.8 is part of the intake manifold so a much bigger job than the EGR valve clean/replacement on the 1.6. Seems a rather daft design to be honest but as I have never had a 1.8 I have never done one, quite expensive if it needs replacing, personally I would see about getting it cleaned and if it's faulty see about getting it mapped out.

7. Ford Model: Focus 1.8 TdCi. Posted April 5, 2011. Hello all, I have a 2004 Ford focus 1.8 TDCi. It has about 42k miles on the clock and I know the car's history, it hasn't had a hard life. It is showing the Engine lamp and when I scan the DTCs using Formidable it comes up with P2263, Turbo/SuperCharger Boost performance.
P0260 - Is a fuel metering control fault. P0270 - is a fuel injector 4 circuit low. a fault within the injector/wiring must be investigated if this code is constant. what code/s reappear once cleared. the injector operating voltage is around 230 volts ( these are piezo crystal injectors )
2005 Dodge 1500 code p0404 EGR valve. The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly is attached to the rear of the left cylinder head , Remove electrical connector (5) at top of EGR valve solenoid. Remove tube mounting bolt (1) at intake manifold. Remove two bolts (4) connecting EGR tube (1) to valve assembly.
This is my second 2011 Mk2.5 1.6 TDCI (the first was written off a couple of years ago by some f**kwit running a red light!) and the EML is on. Forscan reads this as P042F EGR valve stuck closed. Valeo EGR Valve 700444 is only suitable for Ford, Mazda, Mini and Volvo vehicle applications whereas 700414 is only suitable for Citroen, Peugeot, Fiat and Suzuki applications. Well the regens where started on on A66 on a single lane, both times! didn't do a regen on the Duel Carrageway.
